Engineering Scholarship

Seniors the American Council of Engineering Companies of Dallas are accepting applications for their $2,000 scholarship.  If you have scored at least 600 in math and 550 in critical reading on the SAT, or a 29 in math and 25 English on the ACT.  Have a minimum overall high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. North Texas Relocation Professionals Scholarship

Samuell Seniors if you relocated between 9th and 12th grade (summer between 8th and 9th grade acceptable) more than 50 miles and changed schools due to family relocation, have a GPA of 3.0 this scholarship is for you.  Click here to view the application and more information.  Completed applications must be emailed to the  email address on the application on or before January 31, 2017.

Tom Joyner Foundation - Full Ride Scholarship Program

Attention Samuell Seniors!

Seniors attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the fall of 2017 must apply for this scholarship.  Seniors must have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.50 (on a 4.00 grade scale, excluding home school studies) and Minimum SAT score of 1400 [based on the New SAT score format combined math essay and verbal score] or ACT score of 30.  Applicants must demonstrate leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities.  To apply online click here.  Students must have their school mail their transcripts and recommendations to the address listed on the online application.  Applications and all scholarship documentation must be postmarked no later than January 20, 2017.

·       To enter, take a blank t-shirt and tap into your creative side by fashioning it to how it represents you. All applicants must be the original designers! Once you’re satisfied with your DIY T-shirt, post a picture of yourself or a friend in the tee on Instagram along with a 200-300 word essay explaining your design. Criteria:
·       Write a 900-1500 word essay on the following topic: According to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), it is perfectly legal for employers to assess their employees as much as 30% of the cost of provided health benefit (insurance) coverage, if the employee doesn’t meet certain wellness goals (established by the Department of Health and Human Services) which include weight and/or body mass index (BMI). Critics say that this amounts to a thinly veiled form of ‘fat discrimination’. Supporters feel this a very good thing as it establishes a financial incentive for people to work toward long-term health goals. Discuss which view of the situation you think is more fair.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open!

New for 2016 the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open.  To learn about completing and submitting your FAFSA click here.  Remember the FAFSA is your opportunity to apply for financial aid, grants, work study and student loans.  It is also used by colleges and universities to determine scholarship eligibility. Money is provided to students on a first come first serve basis.  Be the first in line and not the last. Complete your FAFSA today.

Fairway to Success Scholarship


Fairway to Success is a golf and Scholarship Program open to Samuell Seniors.  At least one senior from W.W. Samuel that completes the program will earn at least $20,000 in scholarship awards!!  To be eligible for the program seniors must complete once a week golf and college readiness programming for five weeks. In November there will be a golf tournament and seniors that complete the Fairway to Success Program can then apply for the scholarship in March.  Free pizza and drinks will be provided.

The Fairway to Success Program starts Thursday, September 22, 2016 directly after school in the field area next to the ReConnect building on the east side of the Samuell High School campus.
